TALENT DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME YOUTH (U13-U16) 

REGISTRATIONS NOW OPEN 

Our Talent Development Programme is for our top players in each age group as part of our Otumoetai FC TDP. Meeting the criteria set out from WaiBOP & NZ Football to ensure our top players are catered for in the best environment possible for their development needs. 

We have been working closely with Waibop Football and NZ Football to get our Full TDP (Talent Development Programme) Accreditaion complete. This has now been Finalised and we are officially a TDP club.  This will give us access to NRFL Youth League competitions however there are changes coming to the NRFL Leagues in 2027 which we are Holding for before entering these leagues.

The Talent Development Programme is overseen by our OFC/NZF B Licence qualified Director of Football Jack Boland, and delivered by our qualified academy coaches. 

We will be competing in the WaiBOP Federation leagues in the 2026 season for the following age groups:

U13, U14, U16 Mixed Teams (Games played Sundays)

U13-U16 TDP (Federation Youth) Teams 

Sundays  

TDP teams are created for players who demonstrate a higher level of aspiration, ability, commitment, and ambition,  and interest in being in a more competitive and learning-focused environment.

During the season, players will have three-four weekly contacts: two-three session with our TDP Coaches, and SUNDAY league games. They will also take part in friendly matches arranged in both the pre-season and post-season periods

All players selected for the TDP Programme will be considered for end-of-year tournaments.

Term 1 TDP ID Sessions 

  • Location: Fergusson Park

  • Time: 5pm-6pm

  • Schedule: Tuesdays and Thursdays for three weeks, beginning 10th February ending 26th February. (teams selected by start of March)

  • Requirement: Players must attend at least 3 of the 6 sessions to be considered for selection.

  • Our goal for 2026 is to have two TDP teams in each age group, ensuring strong development pathways and opportunities for all players.

When & Where in 2026

  • 2026 Season Starts: 3rd May (Pre-season games will be scheduled from March)

  • All HOME games are played at Fergusson Park, Tilby Drive, Matua.

Coaching Curriculum

A holistic football programme developing all key moments of the game. Suitably catered ensuring each phase of development is age appropriate and individually maximized. 

Performance Tools

Player management tools ensuring players understand what is needed in the present and future on and off the field to develop holistically, from injury prevention to workload management and nutrition.  

Tournaments and Tours

A key objective of our programme is developing the person not just the player. Our tournaments and tours form a key part of this with a minimum of one event per year for the players to be able to head away showcase their talent on a national stage as well as gain meaningful experiences on and off the field. 

Individual Player Feedback

Reporting system from both the coach and player to track progress throughout the season.
